Someone ate the baby!

Mum: Where's the baby?

Dad: I don't know!

Mum: Didn't I give him to you?

Dad: No, I don't think so.

Sally: I think they ate the baby...

Mum and Dad: Who? Please tell us now!

Sally: The babysitter and her boyfriend

Mum: But they were so nice! How?

Sally: They boiled him like a bright red lobster! Then, they decided he wasn't...crispy enough! They put him on to roast!

Dad: Heavens help us!

Sally: There's not much we can do. The baby's been consumed!

Mum: We must sue them!

Dad: And lock them behind bars!

Sally: Haha! I fooled you! The baby's sleeping! And I think you are too!

The Christmas Poem

Christmas is about spreading cheer,
To friends and family,
Far and near.

It's a special and wonderful day,
Celebrating the birth of Jesus,
Who lay in the hay.

He saved humankind,
The deaf, disabled,
And also blind.

He saved sinners,
And so we,
Eat Christmas dinners.

Our turkey and sprouts (that nobody likes),
Along with presents,
(Such as shiny red bikes).

It's Jesus we have to thank,
When we walk,
Along the river bank.

This is what Christmas is about. Thank you, Jesus Christ.

The Sacred Chant

This tribe of ours,
This tribe of ours.
We are the free spirits.

We believe in Magic,
We believe in Magic.
We are the free spirits.

We live on the Island,
It belongs to us.
We do not fight intruders,
But we hate it when they come.

We have food,
We have shelter.
We are the free spirits.

We have homes,
We live in the trees.
We are the free spirits.

We have family,
We have friends.
We are the free spirits.

We live on the Island,
It belongs to us.
We do not fight intruders,
But we hate it when they come.

River's Royalty - The Challenging Childhood (2)

There was a knock on the door. "Snowball...Snowball!" Snowball sighed and walked towards the door, then opened it. 9-year-old River was stomping her foot behind the door. She briskly walk past her brother and started rummaging around in his things. Snowball hesitated, confused. "Umm...and you are doing what, exactly?" Without turning round, River starts speaking. "Someone has STOLEN my colouring pencils, all 72 shades!" River announces dramatically. Snowball starts laughing. "It wasn't me...Mother took them away to be sharpened. I thought you knew!" River starts blushing. Trying to be dignified, River raised her head and walked out of the room. "I'm going to the river."

Sitting on the blanket, River stared at her river and trailed her hand in the water. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice. "Guess who?" River turned around. "Aaron!" Aaron was her bestest friend in the whole wide world. She ran up to him and they hugged. "You're back!" said River. "Yes! And I got something for you." From his pocket, Aaron fished out a packet of seeds. "They're Cautleya seeds. They grow up to be flowers with bright yellow and deep red petals." "Thank you, so much! I shall plant them right away!" exclaimed River. River's collection of flowers along her river bank was rapidly growing. "I can ask Father to help you. They are rather difficult to plant, even I can't plant them!"

2 hours later, Snowflake came running down. "River, have you SEEN the time? You're 2 minutes late for Mrs Cambridge's ballet lesson. Me and Snowball have already  had our twin musical rehearsal. Mother's birthday is tomorrow!" River paused. "I'm so sorry! Bye, Aaron! I have to go!"
River arrived at Mrs Cambridge's lesson, out of breath. "Straighten up and breath properly. It is unladylike to be as you are now. It is also unladylike to be late. And you are 3 and a half minutes late." But River did not respond. She sat down. She felt very ill. She closed her eyes. "This is not the time! It's your mother's birthday tomorrow!" But River still did not hear her.

Why William Won the Battle of Hastings

There were many reasons why William won the Battle of Hastings:
  • He had a brave character and motivated his army by his courage. This meant that he was outgoing and his bravery scared the opposition. Also, he would not flee as he feared nothing.
  • William was determined and wouldn't give up. This meant that his army respected him. Also this meant that he was a great leader and a good example to his army.
  •  When William realised his army was in danger, he could think on the spot. This meant he had a good plan and tactics to lead his army to victory.
  • William was a skilful fighter and clearly trained regularly. Also he trained his army to make them good fighters too. This meant that he and his army would do well in war
  • He cared for his army, which pleased them. This meant that when they arrived at war, his side was well rested and fed, whereas the opposition was tired as they has fought a war before.

Written in blood

“See you, Mum!” shouted Chloe as she sauntered out of the house. She was going to her favourite place in the entire world: the Dolphin Swimming Pool. It didn’t cost anything to get in. Yet it was a dangerous place too. It was deserted.

Nobody knew about it, except Chloe and her parents. But even her parents didn’t know it wasn’t a normal pool. One month ago, Chloe heard a scream and raised voices. She had sprinted out of the pool and jogged to school. Several times after, it had happened again. But today was different.

Chloe slipped into the pool and froze. The voices. She heard them. But today was different. She felt a smooth hand on her shoulder. “Whose turn is it this year?” growled a terrifying murmur. Chloe turned. The air was silvery. She could see them. The ghosts. She ran. “Quick she’s getting away!”

River's Royalty - The Beautiful Beginning (1)

She was finally born. Her siblings had been waiting for what seemed like forever. But finally she was here. Her name was Princess River and she had bright blue eyes just like the colour of her name. There was also a magical feel about her. The king and queen demanded that a mini river should be built in the garden and when River would be a child she would paddle and have fun in her very own stream. Princess Snowflake and Prince Snowball took great care of the new royal baby. They played with their sister and refused to let the nurse feed her. She was not neglected by their mother and father (as some would suspect, as Queen Summer and King Winter were very busy) who played with her and made endless stories up for her even though she didn't understand. The only thing the family avoided was changing River. Soon, a year had passed by and River was a toddler. But something the monarchs hadn't mentioned to the children was that there was an addition to the servants. A few months before River was born, the married gardener and maid had had a child of their own named Aaron.

One day, River was playing in the soft grass of the gardens. Snowflake and Snowball had gone to piano practice. The nurse had fallen asleep. A little boy about the same age as River came up to her. She giggled. The boy giggled. The children had only just learned to speak a little. The boy said "Hihi. Aaron me!" "Me River" said River. They held hands and River started walking. Aaron followed. they came to a small stream. Aaron recognised it. His father tended it. River recognised it too. It was her river! Aaron sat down and put his hands in the water. River copied. Their hands touched and Aaron grabbed hold of hers. They put their heads together. Even though they were only 1-year-olds, they both knew this friendship would last a very, very long time.

Book Review: Hunger Games

"Primrose Everdeen" My little sister going to the death arena.

The Hunger Games. A death arena for kids. An entertainment for the rich yet bloodthirsty Capitol. Forcing teenagers to kill each other will not repair the open wounds of District 13. A boy from each district. A girl from each district. There is only one winner. 23 children will die. 23 families heartbroken. When Katniss finds herself in the forest, bearing no weapons, it is vital for her to make the most of what she has to survive. As the number of children dwindle down and down, Katniss wonders if there is a chance to get out alive. To win. Winning meant total luxury, whereas losing meant certain death. Either she died or her friends died. There was no way out of misery. Could things get any worse?

We are at war

As children sleep while they can,
Adults stay up waiting, watching.
The soldiers fighting every man.
A flash of peace passes over,
Which soon turns into fear.

The firestorm has started.
Our fate we now foresee.
The blazing bombs are nearing town,
Hitler will never have mercy.

To look at all these helpless people,
When alarming air raid sirens scream,
May ache one's heart beyond belief,
To see that death is the theme.

The whole country, one big team.
To think what would become of us,
When Hitler has mercy is just a dream.
Yet we still do not surrender.

Falling

I was falling…falling…falling. Total darkness of a purple-black colour was exposed to me. I fell into the depths of the world or perhaps it was hell as crazy thoughts ran through my head. Where was I? Why was I here? What would happen to me? Would I be rescued from this life threatening fall? No-one knew.

I awoke with a start. Where was I? I got up. All I could see was a blinding light and a white mist. All I could hear was a voice screaming “Don’t get up!” I didn't understand at first. Why was I here? Then I remembered. I started to feel dizzy. My knees gave way. What would happen to me? I was ill and about to fall and split my head open. I noticed the bleep wasn't in my head. Would I be rescued from this life-threatening fall? But no-one came to my aid. I was falling...falling…falling.

Blood dripped from my head. Then everything went out. My hearing, my sight.  I got trundled along to the emergency room. They tried to revive me but they couldn't. Not now, not ever.

I sensed them as they dressed me up into my best party dress. I sensed them as they lowered me into my coffin. I sensed them as they threw flowers onto me. I sensed them as they placed me into my freshly dug grave. They didn't sense me. The mourners weren't aware of the fact I was still in their world.

Sensing Nature

I am in Richmond Park,
Where grass is green as emeralds.
And the sky is a sparkling bright blue.
When I am in the dark,
I see shimmering, glimmering pools.
Deer sleeping in groups too.

The smell of fragrant flowers,
The smell of humid air.
The smell of nuts and sap,
Here and there.
All these smells bring me glee,
For these smells are nature, growing on a tree.

I feel the taste on my lips,
Of misty morning air.
Sweetness fills my mouth,
As I bite into a wild pear.
The delicious taste of icy water,
From the refreshing stream.
I ask myself,
If this is a dream.

Chirping birds, high in trees.
The gentle rustle of fallen leaves.
A cricket singing in the distance.
The croak from an idle frog.
A fish splashing,
A fox dashing.

The cool water of a rushing river.
The crispy crunchy leaves.
Softness is what the grass provides.
Rough bark on trees, on both sides.
Does anyone but me,
Understand what Richmond Park could be?

Sing about Christmas times

The world has turned beautifully white,
To Santa the children will write.
We can have lots of fun,
Even when there's no sun.

CHORUS
Sing about Christmas times.
Just sing about Christmas times.
Sing to the ladies or sing to the lords.
But sing about Christmas times.

Jesus was born,
In a manger with corn.
Three wise men followed a bright star,
But they didn't come in a car.

CHORUS

Santa comes on Christmas eve night,
Not leaving his reindeer behind.
Let's not fight,
For the extraordinary presents we find.

CHORUS

Now it's time to go to bed,
And rest our sleepyhead.
Tomorrow will be Christmas day,
All the children will shout "Hooray!"

CHORUS

It's Christmas today,
In soft snow we'll play.
The fire gives a glow,
That you won't find in the snow

Will Charlotte escape?

Key

      Narrator
      Charlotte's narrative

At the very top of the darkest, deserted tower, there was silence in the lonely lumber room. All except for a sad sobbing sound in a dusty corner. Unhappily, Charlotte shuffled slowly towards the untouched bowl of thick hot soup and peered over the edge. It looked most unappetising. Big crystal tears fell from her twinkling sapphire eyes and slithered down her face as she stirred the soup.

Clink! A shiver went down scared Charlotte's spine. Her tears rolled into the unpleasant soup and something shined in it. Charlotte gasped and stared at the soup. Something was in it for sure. Stunned, Charlotte picked up her spoon and fished the object out of her thick and now lukewarm soup.

I was astonished to see that the strange, mysterious object was a key. At first I hesitated, not knowing what to do with it, but then I realised Hildi must have put it there. That's what must have caused all the commotion downstairs. Hildi must have been fired. As I slowly turned the rusty key in the lock, I thought of where she could of gone. Maybe the deserted mountain hut ... no, no, no, she must have gone to The Jolly Huntsman. I silently crept to my room, packed a few things and of I went to The Jolly Huntsman.

Count Karlstein's Lumber Room

Count Karlstein's gloomy castle stands bold, but alone as the villagers flee in fright from it. Inside are so many cluttered rooms but the worst is the cold, dusty lumber room. All the items are covered in a thick layer of unpleasant dust: they haven't been touched for years.

The taste of dust haunts the room. Pleasant tastes? Oh no! There is nothing edible, only a piece of stale bread and a mouldy half-eaten biscuit. Nobody would like to eat that! A horrendous human head lies on its side on top of a filthy brown bedside table.

Of course if you looked carefully you would see that it wasn't a real human head, it was in fact wooden.
Or was it?

Count Karlstein will get you!!!!!!!!!!!

Nature, nature

In the spring the lambs are born,
Undoubtedly no one is forlorn.
The grass is as soft as a newborn lamb's fur
The wonderful, wonderful spring

CHORUS
Seasons, seasons,
Four of them.
Nature, nature,
All around us.

The summer is a burning hot sun,
All the children are having such fun.
The fantastic flowers bloom vividly,
The wonderful, wonderful summer.

CHORUS

The extremely strong tall trees,
Stand boldly in the breeze.
The autumn leaves fly gently.
The wonderful, wonderful autumn.

CHORUS

The winter snow drifts slowly down,
Making the ground white in the town.
The frozen pond a circle of glass,
The wonderful, wonderful winter.

Play

One Saturday morning,
I woke up to see the sun.
One Saturday morning,
It was clear that it's time to have some fun.

CHORUS
Down to the beach we run,
To bathe in the nice hot sun.
Today we will have fun.
And we play,
And we play,
And we play,
Play, play

What do we care?
This is the time to have some fun.
What do we care?
We play come rain or come the sun.

CHORUS

Day and night,
As long as there's light.
Day or night,
Shining bright.

CHORUS

With our friends,
The day never comes to an end.
With our friends,
We can go around the bend.

Jane & Jack: Love Story (Taster)

Once, long long ago, there was a girl called Jane. Jane went to boarding school. She slept in a room with girls but there was a handsome boy called Jack who always came into the common room. Jane secretly loved Jack. One bright Saturday morning, when Jane & Jack were alone in the field, Jack brought some flowers to her. Nervous, he handed them to Jane and whispered "I love you!" Jane was overjoyed and whispered back "I love you too!"

Haikus, Haikus and more Haikus

Thunderstorms are loud
Lots of lightning is flashing
Terrified children

Climb the tall mountains
Come down and see the blossom
Beautiful nature

Come down to the beach
And see the palm trees swaying
Relax in the sun

There are lots of trees
In the boiling rainforest
It is very wet

Amazing Autumn
The red leaves fall off the trees
Soon it is Winter

Christmas Time Is Here

The snow is gently drifting down,
Covering up all of town.
Little children calmly wait,
'Till it's time for Christmas Day!

Christmas, Christmas time is here,
Lots of toys and lots of cheer.
I have some gifts and Molly too!
Lots of presents for me and you.

Christmas presents kids will get,
From Santa who they have not met.
Don't forget to hang your socks,
For when it's Christmas night.

Christmas, Christmas time is here,
Lots of toys and lots of cheer.
I have some gifts and Molly too!
Lots of presents for me and you.
